Relatively undeveloped, mountainous Dominica boasts one of the Caribbean's most spectacular natural environments and is ideally suited to nature lovers and Caribbean aficionados who want to experience the less tame side of the region and a touch of eco-adventure. It's known as the ‘Nature Island of the Caribbean’ with good reason. The proud local population will give you a genuinely warm welcome and help you make the most of your time on their island home whether it's spent whale-watching, snorkelling, scuba-diving, bird-watching, hiking or kayaking. If your idea of nightlife is to watch the stars in the sky, then Dominica is for you.
Did you know....?
The cast and crew members of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest stayed in Dominica while filming there in 2005.
Food & Drink
Fresh fish is excellent, especially crab, lobster and octopus. Local fruits are abundant and delicious.
Restaurants
In Roseau,we recommend the Waterfront Restaurant and informal Balas Lounge
Bar at Fort Young; La Robe Creole is also good. Close to Trafalgar Falls is the Papillote Rainforest Restaurant and we have heard good reports of Curry Kitchen at Scott's Head.
